Installation notes: exposed tall shower systems
Exposed tall systems are the least invasive family in our shower range. The whole column mounts on two hot and cold inlets at standard residential centres, which is why they are the correct choice for retrofits where the wall cannot be opened.
Rough-in
Hot and cold inlets at 150 mm centres, finished to the tile surface. Use the paper template supplied with the box to mark the two fixing points; the column is carried by its own bracket, not by the water connections.
Sealing
Use the supplied rubber washers at the wall union. PTFE tape on the threads is acceptable; paste sealants are not recommended — they complicate future servicing.
Commissioning
Flush both lines before connecting the column to clear installation debris from the cartridge. Open the thermostatic cartridge to its midpoint, run both outlets, and verify the thermostatic response by adjusting the cold inlet temporarily. Record the commissioning flow rate in the handover document.
Handover and spares
Every VALA shower system ships with a printed specification sheet and a cartridge reference that the site maintenance team will need two to three years in. Keep the sheet with the room file.
